The Maldives

Maldives, officially the Republic of Maldives, is an island nation consisting of a group of atolls in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives are located south of India's Lakshadweep islands, and about seven hundred kilometers (435 mi) south-west of Sri Lanka. The twenty-six atolls encompass a territory featuring 1,192 islets, roughly two hundred of which are inhabited by people. Maldives is the smallest Asian country in terms of population. It is also the smallest predominantly Muslim nation in the world.



i know i will get a lot of hate mails after i post this blog! yes... i went to the maldives. and yes.... it is BEAUTIFUL! too bad i only got 1 clear day there bcoz this flight is a 3days pattern instead of the other 5days one. but nonetheless i enjoyed myself tremendously. We stayed at Bandos Isalnd Resort, woke up early, ate breakfast by the beach then went snorkelling... my virgin trip... n i drank a lot of bloody giam seawater bcoz the sea was quite choppy bcoz of the monsoon season. so we juz snorkel for a while b4 breaking for lunch. but the trip after lunch was amazing! simply BREATHTAKING! the water was really shallow and then comes the DROP! the whole shoreline juz dipped into the ocean & oh my god!!! i saw schools n schools of fishes... fishes of all shapes n sizes, nemos (so colourful!), big black fat sea cucumbers, jelly fishes and ONE baby shark (basically all the fish we saw in the movie 'a shark's tale')... i tell you... no words can xpress my feelings man. but apparently the water is not tat clear bcoz of monsoon. so i cant imagine how is it like when the water is at her best!

Zouked Out..

my whole body is aching lor... zouk out machiam like annual singapore work out for me like tat.. dunno how many times i have to walk all the way out to fetch ppl la.. walked from 1 end to the other la.. "i m at b11, come look for me at b8, where are you? we at main areana" i think i spent most of the time in sentosa was spent looking for people lor! but overall its still quite fun. the weather is cooling and got more beautiful ppl.. oh, then we witness this incident of this ah qua beating up fucked up angmo! damn shiok man! she chased after him n kept pounding on his head then walked back, adjusted her hair and started dancing again! anyway we partied till 7+ in the morning before leaving for transport. must thank tim su for organising the mini bus transport. feels damn gd to be driven away without having to queue! haha..

MR SI HUA!

i tell you... wat i m about to write in this post could be the biggest joke of my life! so this is wat happened...

while playing mahjong, we (chris aka my god didi, qianlin aka apee, sandra aka apoo & me aka achee) became hungry & decided to order macdonalds delivery, our usual practise. so i called 67773777... ring ring ring...

GIRL: "Thank you for calling Mac delivery. Can i have your contact number please?"
ME (in a manly voice): "97673212."
GIRL: "Ok..." (typing away)
so while waiting i showed sandra how to tell what tile is it by juz feeling it.
ME: "Yi wan... (proceed to 'feel' another tile) Er tong... Ba tong... Animal...
as i was reading out the next tile...
GIRL: "And your name? pls hold on... (typing sound)
before i can react...
GIRL (matter of factly): " So Mr Si Hua can i have your orders pls?"
I TELL YOU...
Me (in a high pitch voice): "Hahaha... Could you... *grasps for breath* haha.. pls.. hahahaha.. give me a.. haha.. *deep breath* min!"
i was laughing so hard... my tummy nearly went into spasm... n there goes my image...

so.. there goes the story of how mr gabriel wong became mr si hua!

party week!

gosh.... finally i m having my weeked in singapore! been missing out on all the actions for the past 3months!! cant wait for zouk out and attica on sun. haha...

went mambo last night and it was crazy. was there bout 12+ and it was already full house! they stopped selling entry all together and velvet only velvet entry. collected zouk out tickets and left for tantrix instead. bcoz of chris, we went back to zouk at 2am! dunno why i got quite drunk, ended up puking at hm. haha...

it suddenly occur to me tat time really flies... exactly 20more days and i will be with SIA for 1 yr oreadi. looking back it makes me wonder if all these were planned by some1 up there. how i ended up not going to melbourne to study (which is a gd thing bcoz my dad supposed to support me backed out last min), how i emailed sq way after the application date and ended up in the job within 2mths which really turned my life around. or rather its when i really start to have a life. how with this job i bcame the breadwinner for the house when my dad went out of our life totally. without this job, i wld not b able to buy a hse with my mom, pay for my brothers, for a life.

havent felt so carefree for quite sometime liao... it was a fun day out with chris on tues. we went swimming/tanning at tampines safra. then jane joined us for lunch n bowling. after which we went ktving in safra itself n sang till 1am! it feels so gd to just do anything whenever i want to.

soon a new yr will start and i thank god for all the good things tat happened to me this yr... a new career, lots of blossom luck! (chris has been complaining bout it), new friends tat made life more enjoyable (jane, min, travis, jas), old friends whom i love (aly, timothy ouyang, huiling, miss jamie, shuyun, qianlin, augustine, cheryl, trina, gen) and my 2 god didi (chris & andrew).

29th October - Jaslyn's bday @ Sentosa!

celebrated jaslyn's bday in sentosa. booked 2 connecting rooms at the beaufort hotel. crew gets 50% off published rates! haha... was fun to hang out in the sun (even though it was cloudy for most part of the day) & finally got to try the luge. quite fun as it can go quite fast. Had a fantastic branch in this indian restuarant...

27th April 06 Venice

took a overnight train from Rome to Venice... arrived in the wee hours. Its a really lovely place...

tired but happy...

juz came back from jarkata nightstop... surprisingly light load on the way back. only 34 in economy. almost unbelievable. but it was a terrible stay in the hotel. some idiot called me at 5am, woke me up then at 845am, mosquitoes woke me up! there were like 4 bites on my neck n shoulder area, 1 on my cheek and i think got bed bugs! my legs were itching whole morning. horrrrrriiiibllleee.. so my gym/swim/tan plans were ruined. slept thru call time...

m tired but happy.. mayb not happy but glad? relieved? satisfied? in my previous post i mentioned tat sq 217 Melbourne is my 1st flight without probation and guess wat? i received my 1st compliment letter addressed to me on the return sector. it was from my complex leader. a fun n nice malay leading steward. 2wards the end of the flight, he asked me: "gabriel, a lot of crew like to say thank you right?" i was like... "ya. all the time". then he continued: " wats the pt of saying just for the sake of saying?" & promptly proceed to pass me a piece of paper. i was caught off handed & then almost speechless. its a crew feedback form. inside he wrote, " even though gabriel has just passed probation not long ago, his work could pass off as some1 tat have work for more than 3years...." he said, why not give me something that will go into my record rather then just saying thank you n hoped tat i will continue to be humble n hardworking n not bcome a 'zappy' crew like most of 'them'. to add on to my sense of achievement, the other LSS tat i worked with on the way up asked if she could add in her name. haha.. i must say i was in cloud's nine. (p.s. since i m boosting here might as well go all the way. duringmy 4th month flying, 1 LSS actually asked if i was a returning crew! =P)

ok.. enough of haolianess. i was telling timothy that this melbourne trip was 1 of the more fulfilling 1. i went out for lunch, did some shopping n had coffee. met tim's fwen, gabin. its nice to have fwens to hang out with when ya out stations. it makes u feel less lonely... =) thanks tim!

damn nice lor the hotel. so new. so white... n casino so near. haha.. so i m in melborne now. beri cold still. 9 degrees. bleearrrggghh..

bad bad bad bad bad flight today.... oh my gaawwwd... actually i was quite excited bout the trip bcoz i luurvv melbourne n i m gonna meet tim n my probation juz ended n so got no more P plate next to my name in the crew list. but guess wat... in total there are 4 junior crews (including me) in the flight, so all cannot work business class, so all in economy, and so put all 4 junior crews together = ??? DISASTER!!! i was alone in aft with only 1 FSS n 1 LSS. so i was working like mad and fwd was super slow bcoz 1 of the fss only 1 mth flying. so we had to cover fwd until beri beri far n i also start to blur bcoz not enuf meals & trays in my galley so i was running around like mad dog trying to get trays!

i shall not talk bout work. the flight is over anyway n nothing matters liao. i juz need to eat n sleep n wake up n eat n work n sleep.

Rome Part 2

SPANISH STEPS (Scalinata di Piazza di Spagna) - The monumental stairway, of 138 steps, was built with French diplomat Stefano Gueffier’s funds (20,000 scudi) in 1723–1725, linking the Bourbon Spanish embassy to the Holy See, today still located in the piazza below, with the Trinità dei Monti church above. In modern times the Spanish Steps have included a small cut-flower market, a favorite place for eating lunch (now officially frowned upon and rewarded with fines) or picking up a gigolo!





VATICAN CITY (Stato della Città del Vaticano) - A sovereign city-state whose territory consists of a landlocked, almost completely walled, enclave within the city. The entire state is about 44 hectares and thus is a European microstate. It is the smallest independent nation in the world, created in 1929. Although it is governed by the Bishop of Rome (the Pope), the Vatican City State is not the Holy See but can be said to be the governmental capital of the Catholic Church.











I must say the trip to Rome was fun and memorable. The team that i flew with is so bloody nice. None of the typical aircrew bitchyness or zapping. Every1 worked equally hard. Every1 partied equally hard. Below are some random pictures! - up next - VENICE.
